Immune Systems Get a Buck with Sea Buckthorn

Back to School Doesn’t HAVE to Mean ‘Back to the Doctor’

As parents prepare their kids for the new school year, they should also be thinking about how to better protect them from the variety of illnesses that arise while in the classroom.

Among other things Children’s Hospital recommends boosting immune systems through proper nutrition, exercise and plenty of sleep.

Poor nutrition and not getting good rest can weaken the immune system. Eating plenty of fruits and vegetables can prevent health problems… [1]

So, when stocking up on paper, pencils, crayons and folders, consider stocking up on immunity defense with Sea Buckthorn—the Dr. Oz ‘miracle berry.’ The nutrient-rich Sea Buckthorn Berry is a great supplement to a healthy diet, and can help reduce the visits to the doctor this coming school year.

In case you haven’t heard, the sea buckthorn berry is the new “it berry” for organic health/beauty products. Dr. Oz even calls it the ‘Miracle Berry’ because of the rich antioxidants, essential amino acids, vitamin E, rare Omega 7 and 190 other bioactive nutrients.

I received several different types of buckthorn products, capsules, and seed and berry dropper oils.

There is always a new go to product and it is hard to determine whether or not a product truly works since there are so many variables on a daily basis.  Germs you come into contact with, overall health, what you eat, exercise, etc. all effect your likelihood of getting sick and how quickly you will get better. My children are breastfed, and by America’s standards they are extended breastfed (meaning over the age of two, self led weaning) so they get a great deal of vitamins, antibodies and even stem cells from the milk I produce, they very rarely get sick and when they do it is a 3 day cold.

One of my sons has pediatric epilepsy and there have been research papers showing a connection between ingesting Omegas and reducing the numbers of seizures a child has as well as the correlation between less seizures and a high-fat diet (ketogenic diet).  His pharmaceutical medicine keeps his epilepsy under control but as we look to wean him off of drugs we keep our eyes and ears open to new products such as this that can help maintain his health without the need for dangerous pharmaceuticals.

I started taking the Berry Oil in water and have to say it is not a good flavor so it would be best in juice or mixed with food, like in pancake batter, to disguise the taste. The taste reminds me of gasoline, it can be pretty harsh.  I have even tried to add it to fruit smoothies.  I can not be 100% sure of its efficacy but I did recently travel on a plane over a weekend with little sleep and have not fallen ill.  The recycled air in planes is known to be a germ fest, as well as the multiple people you come into contact with when you travel, including the cattle like holding area that you wait in without your shoes on to board a plane. Then of course there was the high sugar load of foods I ate while away from my own kitchen.  All of that and not a single sniffle.

I was not compensated in any way and opinions expressed are my own.
